Appropriately named for his two rocket hands, Rocky is another of my favorite Ding designs. Box-like in shape and very robotic in his face and body Rocky is similar to many of the early robot designs of the forties and fifties (for more images see the album at the bottom of the page). Two variations on the Rocky design exist with subtle but documented differences. Rocky A is somewhat larger with a rectangular radar dish instead of an oval one, which appears on Rocky B. In addition, the bars on Rocky A's chest are slimmer than Rocky B's and the holes below the name plate are smaller as well. In addition, on Rocky A's body there are 3 bars cut into the body while Rocky B has four. Finally the Rocky A has a raised dot on both sides of his "knee" while Rocky B has none.
